Joy in my Journal: a guest post

Hello Elissa's lovely readers,
My name is Joanny and I blog over at A couple of weeks ago I received an email from Elissa asking if I could do a guest post for her blog. I haven't done a guest post in a while and I love doing them so I didn't hesitate to say yes.

Elissa gave me a list of topics to talk about and when I saw one that mentioned "something that brings me joy", I immediately thought I would write about my journalling experience.
I have been journalling for a while now and I have really enjoyed it so  I will write a bit about the different things I journal about and how that has helped me grow closer to God. 


When I got my first journal, I thought there wasn't really much to journal about as the only thing I wrote in my journal were my prayers.
Sometimes I feel like writing about my feelings especially my prayers of gratitude.
This really motivates me to always be thankful because I always read back and discover that I've gone through a lot and that through everything, God has always been faithful.
Bible Verses:
Another thing I journal about is bible verses. There are so many of them I love and I can't pick a favourite. I feel like the colour brings the words to life and I constantly get reminded by looking at them.

I take advantage of events like Good Friday and Easter to draw. I have recently been into drawing and so I try to do more of it in my journal. These drawings help me remember the importance of these events.

Song Lyrics:
I love songs and I think the most important thing about songs is their lyrics. When the lyrics speak to me, I write in my journal so I can keep reminding myself about what it says.

Inspirational quotes are one of very favourite things too. I love quotes because they are so uplifting and brighten up my day. I find them really encouraging and motivating.

If journaling is something you are considering, hopefully this post has given you more ideas about how you can make journaling very colorful and fun. It doesn't  have to be words. You can get as creative as you want. Let your imagination go wild and just get lost in the moment. Quality time spent with the Lord is never wasted. Hopefully thus inspired someone.

1. Horrayyyyyyy!!!!

5. There is no way I'm going to spend the weekend cramping

week nine- Snack Ideas

Hey friends! If you're new to the blog, welcome! This is a series where I post every Friday something ballet related- tips, tricks, what works for me, ect. Feel free to follow so you wont miss any!
This week, I have some easy snack idea's that work in between classes or long rehearsals. My dance school has a mini-fringe and microwave, so some of these have that in mind:-)
1. Yogurt & granola in a bag
2. Hard boiled egg that is pre-pealed
3. Sandwich cut into squares
4. Trail mix
5. Almonds, dried cranberries and dark chocolate chips in a bag- I am a sucker for this!
6. Humus and crackers
7. Pre-washed veggies
8. Soup
9. Smoothies
10. Homemade granola bars

Week eight- streching & food

Well, it can be hard to stay motivated in the winter. With the cold, gross weather, and the occasional injury, it can be hard to stick with the stretching plan, or to eat on track. This week, let's get motivated to keep up our New Year's resolutions. 

STREACHING: I'm just going to admit right now, I am a terrible stretcher. I h-a-t-e laying with my legssprawled  on wall, trying to concentrate on my book instead of the ripping mussels in my inner thighs. So, I'm talking to myself as much as I am talking to you. These are my ideas: first of all, make it part of you routine. Use a theroband while you watch a movie, read a book while you stretch at night. Set a timer for a reasonable amount of time, and follow through on it. 

EATING HEALTHLY: Every one has different bodies, needs, and habits. It's fine to eat some chocolate cake, but keep those veggies in there too. Pack healthy snacks for on-the-go, and get some new ideas! I love making homemade granola bars and I would like to learn to make hummus. I family that I babysit for makes there own, and always has a huge tub- yum!! Search the internet for ideas; there are a lot of good ideas.
